THE NEW SURPRISING HALLBERG – RASSY 44

There was a great wait around the new Hallberg- Rassy model for many reasons: firstly, because it has been expected to represent a great step forward for the brand; secondly, because the Swedish shipbuilder, strongly hit by the crisis, hasn’t introduced many changes; and finally, because HR is one of the most important names of worldwide boating, its boats are desired by many sailors and globetrotters.hr 1

So, the new Hallberg- Rassy 44, designed by German Frers, introduces a lot of surprises. First of all, a double rudder blade, instead of the traditional rudder provided with a HR skeg (transmissions always stays in line with the axis). Then, the fore bowsprit to arm gennaker. There are also a good deck, a flush hatch and a hidden furler. The sail rig is extremely simple, with no baby stay but with the possibility to have an autorotating jib. Among the unusual things for this boat, there is an astern extendable small pilot bridge.

hr 5Interiors, too, are innovative: a fore traditional shipowner’s cabin (with double or twin beds) and one or two fore cabins and two bathrooms. The kitchen can be linear on the left or L-shaped on the right.

The first HR 44 will be launched in 2016 and it will be officially presented at Boot Düsseldorf next January 2017.
