The new electric outboards from Mercury Marine are even more powerful

Two new electric outboards mark the 2024 innovation from Mercury Marine, completing its range of low-voltage electric propulsion with two models featuring highly innovative characteristics. Unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas (CES), the Avator 75e and Avator 110e models boast incredibly intuitive features, but most importantly, they offer a higher level of power compared to industry standards.

Mercury Marine’s successes in electric propulsion

The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas has served as the stage where Mercury Marine unveiled its latest electric innovations. Here, in January 2023, the award-winning Avator 7.5e was first announced, marking Mercury’s inaugural electric outboard motor. Following this, in August, the Avator 20e and 35e models were introduced. These outboards represent the initial three models in Mercury’s electric motor lineup, which, since its launch in 2023, has garnered numerous awards for design and innovation in both the marine and electronic sectors. In particular, the Avator 20e and 35e received the CES Innovation Awards 2024 in the Sustainability, Eco-Design, and Smart Energy categories, as well as the Top Products Awards 2024 from Boating Industry magazine. Given the further level of innovation achieved with the new 75e and 110e models, it’s likely that Mercury Marine will continue to receive accolades for their electric propulsion technology for the foreseeable future.

“Presenting the Avator 75e and 110e on the global stage of CES has been incredibly exciting for us – stated John Buelow, President of Mercury Marine – Not only do we uphold our commitment to launching five low-voltage electric outboard motors, but we are also thrilled to introduce higher-voltage electric propulsion systems. These models, alongside the exceptional combustion engines that have redefined outboard performance, allow us to maintain our position as leaders in innovation within the boating industry”.

We are proud of all the recognition we have received for our Avator electric outboards to date, and we are excited to introduce our most powerful new models yet – added Buelow – The 75e and 110e electric outboards are well-suited for powering a variety of vessels, including pontoons, runabouts, skiffs, and RIBs ranging up to about 22 feet, providing more people with a user-friendly, sustainable boating experience”.

The Avator 75e and 110e in detail

The Avator’s transverse flux motor technology is an industry innovation, delivering instantaneous torque as well as reliable and efficient power: the new 75e is capable of generating 7,500 W at the prop shaft, equivalent to 10 horsepower, while the 110e generates 11,000 W at the prop shaft, equivalent to 15 horsepower.

Both models are available with digital remote controls for boats with console steering. The 75e is also available with a multi-function tiller handle. The standard Power Tilt system also makes it easy to trim for maximum efficiency or raise the outboard in shallow water.

The Avator 75e and 110e will be suitable for a wide range of applications, including aluminum and composite multihull boats, aluminum fishing boats, inflatable boats, and small fiberglass motorboats. Similar to the 20e and 35e models, the new Mercury Marine electric motors 75e and 110e will also be utilized by commercial fleets and in waterways subject to ICE restrictions.

The new Mercury Marine electric outboards connect to an Avator 5400 Power Center, which facilitates seamless battery integration, offering the flexibility of connecting up to four rugged, weather-sealed Avator 5400Wh lithium-ion batteries for extended range and runtime.

The Power Center delivers convenient, single-point charging for multiple batteries simultaneously. Boaters can choose their own charging time: the portable 520W Avator charger will recharge two depleted 5400Wh batteries in approximately 20 hours, while the optional 1040W charger can cut charge time by more than 50 percent (requires an AC-compliant inlet and breaker).

All Avator models comes with a standard intelligent digital display that enables operators to monitor speed, distance, range in terms of time remaining, battery level, power output, and alerts on a full-color screen optimized for readability in all light conditions. There are two mounting options for the digital display on the 75e and 110e remote console configurations: flush-mount or pedestal mount. On the 75e tiller model, the display is integrated into the outboard for quick and easy viewing.

Last but not least, the Avator 75e and 110e come with a pre-installed Mercury SmartCraft® Connect module that connects the outboard wirelessly to the Mercury Marine app on a smart device. The app can monitor range, battery state of charge and other performance data. It provides a GPS map with visualized range estimates for planning trips. Users can customize the app to send them alerts and descriptive text notifications. Boaters can track their reduced carbon footprint based on estimated emissions avoided while boating with the Avator electric outboard.
