Mediterraneo in Rosa 2024: the all-female charity raid is back

An all-female nautical charity initiative aimed at raising funds for cancer patients. Two years after the inaugural edition of the Mediterraneo in Rosa, an adventure promoted by Nuova Jolly Marine that raised 14,800 euros for charitable purposes, the “Mediterranean women” are ready to embark on a new journey.

With Mediterraneo in Rosa, on September 6th two years ago, twelve adventurers set sail from Amantea aboard a Suzuki-powered Prince 22, crossing the sea with their final destination being the Genoa International Boat Show on its opening day, September 22nd. It was a total journey of 519 miles over eight stages, where women of various ages participated to raise funds for the “Cuore Rosa” Health Transport Service of the Lorenzo Perrone Association, providing free services to cancer patients and their families. This initiative, led by women for women, highlighted the prominence of boating.

Given the success of the 2022 initiative, this year Nuova Jolly Marine proposes a new edition of the all-female crossing, maintaining its crucial objective to raise funds in support of the free services offered by the Lorenzo Perrone Association. The new edition of Mediterraneo in Rosa is endorsed by Confindustria Nautica and the Genoa International Boat Show.

The Prince 24 Exclusive, aboard which the Mediterraneo in Rosa 2024 raid will take place

The second edition of Mediterraneo in Rosa will set off on September 5th with a Prince 24 Exclusive, powered by a Suzuki DF 300. This powerful RIB will depart from Catania, heading once again towards the Genoa International Boat Show. Leading the adventurous journey are Daniela Covati, navigator and representative of the Aiello family (Nuova Jolly Marine), and Carla Gnemmi, navigator from the Club del Gommone di Milano since 2008. Joining them on board will be some important guests: throughout the various stages, several women who have overcome cancer will take their place as “ambassadors of prevention”.

At the departure from Sicily, the godmother of the all-female raid, Patrizia Maiorca, will oversee the start to energize the crews. Additionally, actress and presenter Barbara Kal will personally follow and experience the adventure, ready to passionately narrate the navigation and its goals. Welcoming the crew upon arrival in Genoa will be actress Alessandra Ierse.

The course of Mediterraneo in Rosa 2024

The objectives of the initiative

As mentioned above, the raid aims to raise funds for the Lorenzo Perrone Association, supporting free services for cancer patients and their families. Beyond fundraising, the initiative aims to shine a spotlight on women at the helm in the boating world, navigating challenging waters with skill and determination, as demonstrated in previous editions.

Moreover, Mediterraneo in Rosa seeks to promote a message of prevention, particularly targeting women. This includes advocating for healthy lifestyles and regular screening checks to protect health. The initiative also aims to leave a testament of resilience, symbolically supporting women navigating their own journeys through illness.
