DÜSSELDORF. MONTE CARLO YACHTS LAUNCHES THE MCY 96

Düsseldorf 2017 was the event chosen by Monte Carlo Yachts to announce the birth of a new “jewel”: the MCY 96.

Before talking about the boat, which will see the light next summer, we would like to say a few words about this Italian brand, whose path seems to have gone against the prevailing trend of the country’s history over the last few years.

Monte Carlo Yachts MCY 96Just to be clear: the first launch took place in 2010; in its first year, the company registered a three-million turnover and few employees. From that moment on, the group experienced an unstoppable growth and, now, it counts on a remarkable turnover and a production site in Monfalcone which constantly expands in terms of surface, equipment and employees (300 people). Over the years, the shipyard has produced seven models, including the new MCY 96.

The investments of the French Beneteau Group, to which Monte Carlo Yachts belongs, have certainly benefited the Italian brand but a growth of such magnitude would not have been possible without the strength of its men and women, especially in a period when crisis wiped out other realities of Italian boating.

The MCY 96 completes a range of boats ranging from 76 up to 105 feet. Following the results achieved and the “vision” of its own development, interior and exterior design of the MCY 96 has been once again entrusted to Nuvolari Lenard Studio. Naval architecture and engineering, on the contrary, are by the shipyard itself.

The result is an impressive 30-metre yacht featuring the same grace of an open boat. The high bulwarks are made sleek by the gradual lowering of the high bow towards the astern sections. The contrast between the dark colour of the hull and the clear superstructures reinforces the smooth lines of the boat. Another surprise is represented by the black hard top overlooking the bridge. The visual contrast is so violent that it doesn’t look like a part of the boat which, in its turn, is even more streamlined.

Signature elements include the typical large porthole composed by four different sized circles along the sides, used by the shipyard since its first launch.

The deck features a large saloon laterally embraced by wide glass windows. The full-beam owner’s cabin develops over an uninterrupted space including no structure or wall, allowing natural light to flood the room from the large side windows and a very generous skylight.

At the moment, no details have been announced about the planned motorization. The possibility to choose the preferred type of certification represents a quite unique feature and a highly significant added value for the owner while the success that Monte Carlo Yachts registers on the international markets is evident in the words of its Managing Director, Fabrizio Iarrera: ” Even though it hasn’t been launched yet, the first three units of the MCY 96 have already been sold, which is a great source of pride for us”.

We just have to wait for next summer.
