Amer Yachts presents Volvo Penta with a study on the noise reduction of Swedish engines
A gift for the future, a forward-looking gift. As part of the Nobel Week Sanremo 2020, an event dedicated to Nobel Prizes and relationships between Sanremo and Sweden, the Italian boatbuilder Amer Yachts presented the famous Swedish manufacturer of marine engines Volvo Penta with the results of an independent study on the reduction of its engines’ underwater noise.
Carried out last summer in collaboration with Istituto Catena, the research was received by Andrea Piccione, Volvo Penta Sales Manager for Italy while a copy will be make available by Volvo Penta Head Office in Sweden to allow the Scandinavian industry to analyze it and implement the technical data collected during the survey.
” We carried out our tests on a 100 meter seabed to detect the noise emissions – explained Barbara Amerio, CEO and Sustenaibility Director di Amer Yachts – Carried out in collaboration with Catena, the study is called ” A gift for the future” and is intended to give Volvo Penta the data so that it can acquire and elaborate them”.
” We thank Amer and Barbara for this gift that consolidates our partnership with the shipyard – claimed Andrea Piccione – All data will be used to improve and develop Volvo Penta products in the perspective of the group’s vision which is that of sustainability and lower environmental impact“.
The partnership between the Italian city and Sweden therefore continues with the ” A gift for the future” formula, a symbolic gift that represents tradition, innovation and commitment for an increasingly eco-friendly world.
Not surprisingly, during the Nobel Week events at Nobel House in Sanremo last year, Barbaria Amerio mentioned the foresight of Alfred Nobel, who committed his legacy to relaunch the future and leave a positive trace of hope in all those who believe in progress, culture and research.
Since then, due to the Covid-19 health emergency, 12 complicated months have passed and the participation of Amer Yachts in this prestigious event today takes on an ever deeper meaning. The Permare Group company, in fact, has decided to follow in the footsteps of the great Swedish scientist and make a gesture towards the future, an act of research donation to a strategic partner like Volvo Penta, which has always been particularly sensitive to the green deal issues.
Furthermore, during this edition of the Nobel Week, the company presented an important initiative that sees the support of Amer Yachts STEAMiamoci, a project promoted by Assolombarda to reduce the gender gap with the creation of four scholarships, sponsored by Confindustria Imperia and the Sanremo-based shipyard, for virtuous students who will choose STEAM subjects in scientific faculties. The call for scholarships for 2021 will be published on the Confindustria Imperia website.
