Aquila 46 Coupe: racer performance, cruiser comfort

The performance is that of a racer, but the comfort is pure cruiser. We’re talking about the Aquila 46 Coupe, the latest creation from Aquila Power Catamarans, a brand that keeps surprising the market with its innovations. Already well-known and appreciated by power catamaran enthusiasts for its speed and stability on the water, the US shipyard has truly outdone itself this time. The Aquila 46 Coupe is not only exceptionally high-performing but also offers incredible livability, taking full advantage of the generous beam of a catamaran. With this model, the shipyard—born from the partnership between Sino Eagle Group and MarineMax—has created a well-rounded boat that is stable, fast, and efficient. After making its debut in Miami, it won over the audience at the Palm Beach International Boat Show. In short, there’s no doubt that the Aquila 46 Coupe is rewriting the history of sporty power catamarans.

The Aquila 46 Coupe represents a revolutionary project – says Carlo Orione, CEO of FC-Yacht, the Italian dealer for Aquila Power Catamarans – Aquila catamarans already offer numerous advantages over monohulls, but this new series raises the bar even further. We all know how cramped high-performance monohulls can be. Instead, the 46 Coupe features two spacious en-suite cabins on the lower deck and, above all, a massive living area on the main deck. The layout is smartly designed between the forward and aft cockpits, with a large dinette that connects seamlessly to all areas”.

40% Lower fuel consumption thanks to standard innovative foils

Speed, stability, and fuel efficiency are just some of the advantages that define every Aquila catamaran, and the Aquila 46 Coupe is no exception. Thanks to its innovative foils installed as standard, this model delivers outstanding performance and an incredibly smooth ride.

During recent tests at the Miami International Boat Show, we recorded a top speed of 44 knots with twin Mercury outboards totaling 1,200 horsepower – says Orione – But it’s not just about performance. With the standard central tunnel foil, the 46 Coupe can cruise at 35 knots while consuming just 200 liters per hour, about 40% less than any monohull of the same size. The main foil connects the two hulls at midship, and two additional foils at the stern—one per side—provide even greater stability”.

The Aquila 46 Coupe in detail

As mentioned, the Aquila 46 Coupe isn’t just a high-performance catamaran—it’s also incredibly comfortable. Despite its twin outboard engines, the stern platform is generously sized and even extends to the full beam if the owner opts for the twin 440-horsepower Volvo Penta D6 diesel engines. The aft cockpit layout features a split sunbed with a central walkway and a wet bar, a luxury usually found only on larger yachts. Thanks to the tilting window, the wet bar seamlessly integrates with the fully equipped indoor galley, creating a harmonious and uniquely designed space.

The main living area is primarily arranged along the starboard side, with a dinette positioned aft of the high-tech helm station. Forward, separate staircases lead to the two cabins, each with a double bed and private en-suite bathroom. Access to the bow deck is via a convenient central passage, leading to a lounge area with a chaise longue and an L-shaped sofa that quickly converts into another sunbed. Well protected by high bulwarks, this space remains fully usable even while cruising, making it one of the most enjoyable areas of the Aquila 46 Coupe.

When and how to get it

The Aquila 46 Coupe is set to arrive in Europe in 2026. After its global debut at the Miami International Boat Show last February and its European premiere at the Palm Beach International Boat Show from March 19 to 23, the new catamaran from Aquila Power Catamarans will be showcased at the International Multihull Boat Show in La Grande-Motte, France, from April 23 to 27. The shipyard will also present the Aquila 54 Yacht and the sporty Aquila 32 and Aquila 36 models at the event.

Beyond these models, Aquila Power Catamarans offers a full range of units from 28 to 70 feet, divided into five categories, from day cruisers to luxury yachts, catering to every need. In Italy, Aquila models are imported by FC-Yacht, part of the Free Charter group in Cagliari, which offers them for charter and sea trials at its marina in Cannigione, in the heart of Costa Smeralda. The company also provides rent-to-buy options, allowing customers to use the boat for ten weeks per year and, after seven years, become its full owner.

Another option, the guaranteed income plan, allows buyers to choose from the wide range of Aquila catamarans by paying 45% of the purchase price upfront and a final installment of 15-20% (depending on the model) after four years. This is made possible through the pre-recognized income the yacht generates during peak summer months, when Free Charter rents it out. During the first four years, owners still have access to their yacht for four weeks in the mid and high seasons, plus unlimited use from October 15 to April 15. The plan can be customized to individual needs, and all management and mooring costs are covered by Free Charter.

Last but not least, for those unsure if a particular model is the right fit, the try-to-buy option allows for the rental cost to be deducted from the purchase price. This means you can rent your preferred Aquila catamaran, enjoy a week or more of vacation in Sardinia or Greece (where Free Charter has a base), and then decide whether to proceed with the purchase—or try another model next time.
