At Monaco Yacht Club, Baglietto, the historic shipbuilder owned by Gavio Group, has presented its ambitious future projects during a very interesting press conference.
First of all, Baglietto is planning investments of 12 billion euros to be achieved by 2020. They include the construction of a new 3,600-square-metre wet dock and a third hangar for boats up to 65 metres.
In terms of products, in addition to the presentation of the two new models exhibited in Monaco, called Baglietto 46m Fast and Baglietto 54 m Unicorn (in the picture above) – they’re both the result of a precious collaborationbetween Baglietto Yachts and Francesco Paszkowski Design – the managers of the group have also talked about a new line which will take its place alongside the two already existing ranges: the aluminium planing one and the steel-aluminium displacing line, from 35 to 65 metres.
The new line will include boats from 40 to 50 metres. ” This new series – has declared Michele Gavino, General Manager of Baglietto – is an integral part of a renovation process started with Baglietto 46 m Fast, whose aim is to put the brand closer to the market requests but without abandoning its identity. We asked two great designers, Francesco Paszkowski Design and Hot Lab, to interpret Baglietto’s future without overlooking the special bond with its history and identity”.
Below, the first renderings of Baglietto 44 m, the forefather of the line.
Bottom design is, in both the two cases, by Baglietto engineers. The project entails three different models with a length of 41, 44 and 50 metres respectively. The original idea was a semi-displacing boat with aluminium hull but the yard is planning a steel-aluminium displacing version, too. The aluminium version will reach 20/22 knots with a 4000-mile-autonomy, while the second one will have a 7-foot-draft and the possibility to be pushed by a hybrid engine.
