America's Cup

Barcelona Boat Show, a special edition with the America’s Cup

The Barcelona Boat Show 2024 is getting ready for a special edition, quite different from usual. The occasion is the 37th America’s Cup, which will take place for the first time in the waters off the Catalan capital, precisely during the same days as the historic boat show scheduled for next October. In this context, the Barcelona Boat Show will be organized with an information format specially adapted for the occasion, utilizing the framework of the prestigious regatta to showcase to the public the advancements in the yachting sector on essential themes such as sustainability and technology. Furthermore, the Catalan show will, as always, be an opportunity to generate promotion and networking opportunities for all shipyards, as it has always done in its over 60 years of history.

Essentially, occupying the entire Port Vell where the event has always been held, the America’s Cup this year will limit the organization of the Barcelona Boat Show in its traditional format, both for logistical reasons and scheduling. However, the boat show, as a true protagonist in the promotion and dissemination of yachting and sailing sports in Spain, will stand alongside the event considered the Formula 1 of sailing, moving away from its classic commercial format to present itself in a different guise than usual, where industry companies will present their latest innovations anticipating sailing trends and progress in strategic sectors that will shape the future of the industry.

In this sense, next autumn the Barcelona Boat Show will bring together a specialized selection of yacht brands and professionals who are leading the application of design, technology, and materials towards a more innovative, efficient, and environmentally friendly boating sector, in order to spread the latest advancements in terms of clean energy propulsion and sustainable boats.

The activity of the Barcelona Boat Show within the framework of the America’s Cup, whose project and venue are still being defined, will also serve to present its new strategic plan, which will specify the objectives and a new organizational model of the event for the period 2025-2027, with the aim of promoting the growth and differentiation of the Catalan boat show in future editions.
