According to its producer, the Boeing Group, this object should rewrite the rules of the submarine research and it could have some future military consequences. It is a diving drone, with a length of less more than 15 metres ad a 6-month-autonomy. It is called Echo Voyager, it is provided with a hybrid electric engine and it doesn’t need any supporting ship for its launch.
It can reach 3,300 metres of depth and it is the result of the long research Boeing has made on diving means with no people on board. The aerospace industry had already launched Echo Ranger and Echo Sekler, respectively seven and 10 metres long, but they only had some days of autonomy.
Its main aim is to collect data at great depths in every seas and then transmit them to its operating base. The first Echo Voyagers operative tests will be made next summer off the Californian coasts.
