Cannes Yachting Festival will take place, with great novelties

In this period, receiving the news that, despite everything, the organizers of the 2020 Cannes Yachting Festival have confirmed that this year’s show will go ahead is a really great thing.

The event, which launches the “boat shows season”, in fact, will be held from September 8th to 13th and will fully comply with the protective measures that UNIMEV, the French professional federation of the events industry, will submit to the French government to restrict the spread of Coronavirus. The aim is to open the Yachting Festival 2020 in such a way as to allow the event to be held in the best possible conditions and in full compliance with the protection of exhibitors and visitors.

Despite the closure of offices due to lockdown, the staff of the Cannes Yachting Festival, thanks to the implementation of new solutions internationally developed by Reed Exhibitions, has managed to adapt its own organization to serenely prepare the 43rd edition. All collaborators, both in France and abroad, are working remotely and with great enthusiasm, as confirmed by the number and extent of the novelties of the next edition.

Among them, the Quai Saint Pierre at Vieux Port will gather all the fast day boats of the show. The Quai Max Lauberf, instead, has been redesigned to house a new marina which will welcome motor-powered multihulls. Out of the water, the area dedicated to inboards and outboards which was launched last year has been redesigned to offer greater visibility and comfort to engine manufacturers for small and medium-sized units.

The Luxury Gallery, although the current context does not allow to know its content and definitive form in details, will be dedicated to luxury, crafts and lifestyle within a new layout. At Port Canto, the Sailing Area has been designed with the approximately 110 boats registered to date, sixty of which exceed 15 m.

The 6th Concours d’Elegance, exclusively for exhibitors, motor boats and day boats of less than 12 metres, will be held on Saturday September 12th.

The sea access between the two ports has been increased and will benefit from enhanced signage. In addition, a new catering area is planned.

Many customers with whom I have spoken are hoping that the Yachting Festival can be the light at the end of the tunnel. And even if there are still many steps to take before opening this year’s Yachting Festival, this hope is a goal for us. Our teams are doing everything possible to accommodate customers and provide them with the necessary flexibility while ensuring that work schedules are respected, thereby enabling everything to be operational in due course. We have set up a team responsible for adapting the new health standards to the festival and will deploy all necessary means for their implementation”,

– says Show Director Sylvie Ernoult –

We wish courage and energy to all our exhibitors, partners and service providers in this unprecedented time! The Festival’s team and I look forward to finding them and welcoming them to Cannes on September.”

A great news that makes us happy.

However, the only discordant note comes from a phrase contained in the press release, with which the organization claims that the Cannes Yachting Festival is the largest in-water boat show in Europe.

We already dealt with this issue some years ago, the Cannes organization is not in fact new to this claim which is wrong. Europe’s largest boat show is always the Genoa International Boat Show which, for the record, boasts an exhibition area of 199,457 square meters (without considering the floors of pavilion B). Cannes Yachting Festival, instead, has an exhibition area of 178,726 square meters, all in-water areas included.
