MAXI RIBS & LUXURY OPEN CRUISERS

World premiere for Cantieri Magazzù at Cannes: here’s the new 55-foot walkaround maxi-rib

The Cannes Yachting Festival is traditionally the boat show chosen by shipyards across Europe to present their most important new models. This is also true for Cantieri Magazzù, which will unveil a new 55-foot walkaround in the dual versions M-16 and MX-16 at the French exhibition. From September 10th to 15th, the Sicilian shipyard will be on the Croisette to introduce its latest flagship, featuring a D-shape tubular system in closed-cell foam. The M-16 version will be equipped with Volvo IPS engines, while the MX-16 will boast three 600hp Mercury outboard engines and a double-stepped hull.

At 16.7 metres in length, this brand new model from Cantieri Magazzù will turn heads with its alluring design and generous interior and exterior spaces that translate into comfort and practicality, ideal for enjoying the sea with elegance. The layout below deck is extremely versatile, featuring two cabins with double bed and a dinette that transforms into two separate bathrooms, making this the perfect boat both for day trips and long cruises. Every detail is the focus of razor-sharp attention, with the use of high-quality materials to create an inviting setting open to customization. The MX version offers the possibility of a third single crew cabin astern.

The M-16 and MX-16 incorporate advanced technology to improve efficiency and performance. The MX-16’s double-step hull reduces hydrodynamic drag, improving overall performance and reaching high speeds with lower consumption.

One of the distinctive features of the Cantieri Magazzù’s new flagship is the D-shape tubes, incorporating an anti-shock system with a high-performance closed-cell core made of reticulated PE with EVA density of 45-100 kg/m³, while the buoyancy areas are strengthened with higher density foam. The exterior covering is reinforced with 4 mm F155 polyurethane and an outer layer of Hypalon Neoprene Orca® 866 1670 dtex fabric. This innovative system offers better safety and stability, eliminating the risk of punctures and improving cruising comfort.

The power and navigation system is designed to offer maximum reliability and ease of use, with intuitive instrumentation and cutting-edge control systems.

Propulsion is equally noteworthy. The MX-16 version has a double-step hull and is fitted with three 600 HP Mercury engines totaling 1,800 HP for a top speed of 50 knots. A special feature of this version is the possibility of incorporating the outboard engines into the stern sunpad, a solution that also translates into a larger sunpad, but without sacrificing the spacious swim platform usually found on sterndrive models. It’s also a solution that increases safety, because bathers are protected from the outboard engines and propellers.

We’re convinced that this new model will satisfy yachting enthusiasts and our customers by offering a first-class on-board experience – said Claudio Magazzù, a member of the second generation of the family at the helm of the company – The MX-16 doesn’t only represent the evolution of the maxi-rib category, but also our ongoing commitment to excellence and our passion for the sea”

To meet the various needs of different owners, this innovative 55-foot walkaround is also available in the M-16 version with a Volvo Penta IPS 800 diesel propulsion system, satisfying power and efficiency requirements and improving range for long-distance cruises, but without sacrificing design quality and Cantieri Magazzù’s classic detailing.

Cantieri Magazzù works actively to protect the marine environment. The whole rangehas been designed with a special focus on sustainability, using environment-friendly materials and low-impact construction techniques. The engines comply with emissions regulations, ensuring environment-friendly performance.

After their debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival, the M-16 and MX-16 will be presented to the Italian public at the Genoa Boat Show from 19 to 24 September 2024. These events are unmissable opportunities to admire the new model first hand and discover all its extraordinary characteristics.
