It’s not a brand-new concept – the boat was actually presented three years ago – yet the extraordinary combination of exquisite, vintage lines and advanced technology of this boat results into a “wow” effect even at the Paris Boat Show, where visitors seem to be exclusively interested into new entries.
The Cape Cod is, first of all, the celebration of the attention to detail. From cleats to fairleads, from hardwood embracing the fender to the teak surface stretching all over the deck, everything celebrates the old traditions of the French art of navigation.
Designed by architects Hervé Nollet et Clément Salzes, the boat features a hull made of various layers of polyester and vinylester resin while the deck is fitted with epoxy resin.
Boasting highly streamlined lines and a high free board – well-seized in relation to an overall length of around 9 meters- the boat is always well-protected against water sprays. Thanks to a sail area of almost 70 square meters, the Cape Cod is also a fast sailing yacht, especially when the yankee is integrated into the long, lightweight, carbon bowsprit.
Another interesting element is the hydraulically-operated canting keel. Tilting sideways, the keel makes draft drop from 1,5 meters to just 45 cm. After all, the Cape Cod is a conventional day sailer, destined, as claimed by the owner of the shipyard, Hervé Nollet, “to give the owner instant pleasure and unforgettable sensations“. However, her technical features don’t stop her from venture into longer cruises, in the spirit of boat camping.
The well-arranged rigging require just one helmsman to steer. Everything is within the helmsman’s reach. The mainsail sheet, for example, whose traveller is positioned abaft the helmstock, is easy-to-reach and both sheets and halyards easily reach the two winches located on each side of the helm station.
Just one-meter high, the interiors are minimal yet sufficient to accommodate two berths, comfortable enough to spend a night at the sea.
Accommodation is for 8 adults even though the size of the boat makes it suitable for a 4-member crew desiring to enjoy a full contact with the sea on a vintage, small sailing yacht.
Price starts from € 94,000.00, VAT and sails included.
