The Catalonia International Boat Show is born: first edition scheduled from May 17-19

A new boat show is on its way aiming to become an international player among yachting exhibitions. The Catalonia International Boat Show (SINC) will take place from May 17th to 19th at the spacious 8,000 square meter venue of the Port of Mataró, in the province of Barcelona, and aims from the outset to provide a unique platform for the exchange of knowledge, the presentation of innovations, and the promotion of responsible maritime practices.

Catalonia International Boat Show: what will be on display

Some prominent boating brands have already confirmed their participation at the Catalonia International Boat Show, where they will exhibit their services and vessels to all those who wish to visit the Port of Mataró. Specifically, the event will offer boats for both first-time boat buyers and experienced sailors.

The main goal of SINC is to bring the sea closer to everyone and to provide boat owners with another opportunity to strengthen and create ties with shipyards and other leading companies in the sector. The event offers a rich program of meetings, including a series of conferences organized by the Catalonia Fire Department and the Barcelona Fire Department, which will provide detailed presentations on new safety protocols and actions on board, led by frontline professionals in emergencies. Additionally, there will be a dedicated space for professional meetings to discuss current challenges, innovations, and the future of the boating sector, with particular attention to the education and training of boat owners.

In addition to the conferences, visitors to the boat show will have the opportunity to explore the latest products, services, and boats presented by renowned exhibitors, as well as a dedicated space for gastronomy with live soul music.

The sea as a common good accessible to all

The Catalonia International Boat Show stands out for its collaboration with various organizations committed to maritime safety and education, including the Thalassa Social Nautical Association, a non-governmental organization born with the aim of becoming a reference point in Catalonia for social projects promoting access to sailing, knowledge of marine biodiversity, and ecological awareness, focused especially on socially excluded people. Aware that sailing is traditionally seen as an elitist and exclusive field, Thalassa works to demonstrate that the sea is instead a common good accessible to all. The goal of this NGO is to create a more inclusive sea, implementing projects that allow people to experience the sea as a transformative experience, especially for the most disadvantaged.

The inclusion of Thalassa in the Catalonia International Boat Show underscores the event’s commitment to accessibility, sustainability, and social responsibility, seeking to open up the world of boating to everyone, democratizing access to the sea and its benefits.
