AN UNCONVENTIONAL 62-METRE CRN YACHT DESIGNED BY NUVOLARI LENARD

The new CRN yacht designed by the Italian Nuvolari & Lenard Studio absolutely astonishes thanks to innovative exterior and interior design. The brand, part of Ferretti Group, has presented the very first pictures of this megayacht which significantly differs from the rest of the range. First of all, thanks to a vertical bow, which represents a real innovation in the product line of the Italian shipyard, already appeared in some previous concept but never yet materialized. Hull number 137, that’s still the official name of the yacht, has been engineered by CRN’s Ancona-based  Technical Department. At 62 metres long and with a maximum beam of 11.5 metres, the new CRN creation is a displacing five-deck-equipped motoryacht.

Rendering of the new yacht designed by Nuvolari Lenard for CRN, a brand of the Ferretti Group.

As already mentioned, exterior design is completely out of the box and certainly contemporary. ” The bow is vertical, not to follow current trend, but to ensure maximum length in water, thereby increasing speed and maximizing the forward volumes, where the garage is located”, the engineers of the shipyard explain. Some elements seem to be reminiscent of the 55-metre Atlante launched by the Italian shipyard in 2015 and always designed by Nuvolari & Lenard.

Lines are tense and muscly, even if softer than on the previous model. The fore deck plan placed flush the bulwark and free-standing is hidden by handrails. This solution makes necessary a real handrail (which represents another element of continuity between the CRN 62-metre 137 and the Atlante) which has been stylistically made more similar to that one of a sailboat rather than a classic motoryacht.

Interior design, too, flies in the face of tradition. For all we know at the moment, the upper deck, which has now become the owner’s deck, includes a forward panoramic lounge that can remain, at the discretion of the owner, private or open to the other guests. The master suite is located in the aft section of the upper deck.

All the other cabins are stylistically equivalent. The shipyard has, in fact, decided not to create a further hierarchy among them and opt for five VIP cabins, which might suggest a potential end use of the yacht in the boat charter world or, as an alternative, for a generous owner who doesn’t want to discriminate his guests. As for propulsion, the engine room accommodates two MTU 12V 4000 M63 engines outputting 1,500 kW at 1,800 rpm, sufficient to make this superyacht sail at a maximum speed of 16 knots.

Waiting for further information about the project, we want to remember that three more vessels are currently under construction in the Ancona-based CRN production site. In all three cases, Zuccon International Project Studio is taking care of exterior concept and design. The first to be launched next spring will be the CRN 131, a 74-metre yacht featuring a successful contemporary re-invention of traditional lines. Later, the CRN 135, a 79-metre yacht developed upon design concepts close to those of the 131, will be presented at the Monaco Yacht Show next September. Finally, the 50-metre CRN 136 Superconero is the second model of the yacht series inspired by ’60s Super Conero yachts, designed to not exceed 500 GRT without never renouncing technical innovations, such as the tender garage which can be converted into a large beach club.
