After the launch of a 80-metre trimaran concept, the English Pi Superyachts society has reduced its size horizons and launched the project of a 25-metre trimaran a few days ago.
So far, that’s nothing new. However, what makes the Dragonship 25 – that’s the name of the new concept that seems to be nearly ready to enter production – very interesting is her availability in three different guises – a motoyacht configuration as well as two different sailing ones- and a considerable orientation towards renewable energy sources.
Furthermore, the stated aim is to start the construction of the Dragonship 25 and then focus on larger projects, probably without coming back to the original 80-metre yacht concept that hasn’t proven to have any great marketing potential so far.
The Dragonship 25 deploys all the best technological solutions concerning the use of clean energy. In addition to a considerable amount of solar panels on board, the yacht also encloses a system of generators which will produce energy thanks to the movement in the water of the boat itself.
According to the indications provided by designers, accommodation is for 10 guests and 8 crewmembers, at least half of which will be destined to the management of on-board services.
Of course, considering the intention to make the yacht available for luxury charters, spaces include the traditional key features of superyachts, namely a gym and a hot-water pool positioned on the upper deck.
As already mentioned, the Dragonship 25 is avaiable in three different versions: a motoryacht configuration, powered by two Cummins 600 hp engines, a Classic sailing version, with classical rigging as suggested by the name itself of the configuration, and the Dragonship 25M Eco Lux. The third configuration is also the most innovative one. Equipped with a large electrically-steerable soft-wing mainsail, this version also includes two electric propulsion motors which convert the movement of the hull into energy when the boat goes under sail.
This system is expected to provide the trimaran with a total range of 20,000 miles.
According to the manufacturer, the Dragonship 25 will have the RINA Green Plus certification thanks to the extraordinary solutions she embodies in terms of clean energy.
Basic price (standard equipment and hulls included) is 5.5 million euros.
