Salvatore Serio is the President, Managing Director and major shareholder of Dufour Yachts. In a word, he’s the head of one among the main boat manufacturers in the world. Dufour was born in 1964 from the enterprise of Michel Dufour, one of the pioneers of fiberglass construction and whose boats have marked the history of recreational boating: his first boat was Sylph, followed by the legendary Arpège four years later.
Today, Dufour has a 18,000-square-metre establishment, 520 employees and about 400 boats built a year. We met and interviewed Salvatore Serio at the last Paris Boat Show, where the group of La Rochelle exhibited a large stand in the middle of pavilion 1, that dedicated to sailing boats, and certainly the most crowded one. Dufour is closely tied to Italy since both property and design comes from there: Studio Felci has been, in fact, the official Dufour’s designer since the early 2000s.
It was a nice chat with a Salvatore Serio in a good mood thanks to the excellent results registered by the yard in terms of sales and the success coming from the launch of the new Exclusive range, of which we already presented Exclusive 56 while new Exclusive 63 will be launched at the next Boot in Düsseldorf.
The video below shows the interview with Salvatore Serio, with some anticipations about new Exclusive 63 (able to reach 11 knots when pushed by her engine) and the possibility to amplify the production of the group with the introduction of some catamarans and motorboats.
