The news is not that the shipbuilder of La Rochelle is working on a new project, but that it has decided to aim at big yachts. It’s the first time, in fact, that a 63-foot-boat has appeared in Dufour production.
Information leaked by the French shipbuilder are very few. What is certain is that the boat is already under construction and the project is designed by Umberti Felci Studio.
The boat, 19.20 metres long, is the first model of the Exclusive range; she is provided with only one keel, a single rudder and a short deckhouse dominated by a rollbar which will serve to anchor the mainsail circuit and support a bimini and a spray hood.
From the first picture available, it’s evident how Felci has proposed again the idea of a corner and very narrow sleek fore sections and a maximum beam over mid-boat backward. This is a sign that the builder is focusing not only on size and luxury but also performances.
The boat is expected to offer great customization solutions to shipowners, as typical of yachts of this size and quality.
It is very likely that Dufour has worked on a development of its flagship, Dufour 560, by increasing sizes and by adopting innovative amazing design solutions. The shipbuilder has been pursuing a renovation programme for some time (e.g. the external kitchen on the transom and the inner one just before the shipowner’s cabin).
Exclusive 63 will be presented at the Boat Show of Düsseldorf next January. But next weeks, Dufour is expected to reveal some new information about this boat.
