GREENLINE 58 FLY, the new flagship on test

GREENLINE 58 FLY, the new flagship of GREENLINE YACHT, debuted at the Cannes and Genoa boat shows finding a lot of interest and great appreciation from the public.

A true floating villa that encompasses all the elegance and warmth of a boat that immediately appeals; in fact, as you enter you immediately feel “at home.” The sturdiness of the materials and fine finishes complement the great work of technology that the shipyard continues to develop for sustainability and reduction of environmental impact.

The GREENLINE 58 FLY is offered with three engine options: Hybrid, Diesel, and Electric. Currently the yard still offers diesel engines, but the effort is to use the most efficient solutions of the market for more responsible yachting.

GREENLINE 58 FLY EXTERIOR

Hydraulic stern platform with ample space provided with integrated bathing ladder and tender slips.

The stern features a small sofa, very useful and functional for those who want to enjoy the view after taking a dive. Lifting the sofa with a convenient handle, we find a huge locker useful for storing everything needed for any diving, fishing , sup or any other necessary equipment as the space is really big.

Climbing aboard from the gangway, the aft cockpti features two large seats with a central table that can accommodate 8 people very comfortably; thanks to the glass placed aft, it allows to have a truly unique sea terrace with a magnificent view.

On the two outer sides we find well-dimensioned steel fairleads with retractable HARKEN electric winches that allow easy mooring; the two lockers cut out to the side are useful for stowing the stern lines. From the cockpit we can move to the bow via the side-deck; in addition to being of significant size, it is protected by the superstructure that runs almost the entire length of the boat.

Amidships we find the mooring bollard for any springs or crossbars to reinforce moorings on high wind days. In the bow the space is immense and there are two armchairs separating the mooring area, also equipped here with two large fairleads, mooring bollards and anchor windlasses, all well organized and tidy.

The sundeck, thanks to the three very large cushions, is certainly a much sought-after relaxation area; with the two Pop up lights, placed at either end, it becomes the ideal place in the evening to sip a drink with friends. A bimini with a fold-down structure offers good protection during the hottest hours.

Large openings have been carved into the two bow railings, providing light for the forward cabin through windows located on either side of the walkway.

GREEENLINE 58 FLYBRIDGE

Stepping onto the Fly you realize how much extra space this new model offers; significant T TOP height and excellent sofa arrangement make it ergonomic and the quality of the finish is always top notch for a yard like GREENLINE YACHTS. The steering console offers excellent visibility and allows you to have the whole boat under control.

An interesting feature on the fly is the presence of two tables, a larger one, comfortable for eight people, and a smaller one located on the other side, which can be used as a table for children or as a work table.
The stern accommodates a large kitchen cabinet with stove, sink, ice maker and refrigerator that leaves space for the balcony where we can accommodate sun loungers or additional chairs for guests.

GREENLINE 58 FLY INTERIOR

As we enter the GREENLINE 58 FLY we are left open-mouthed by the finishes and materials used that make welcoming a boat that already won me over on the outside. Large windows, room solutions and furniture placement, lighting and upholstery make the environment really pleasant; it may be the sunny day, but the interior is flooded with a huge amount of natural light.

The large window at the side of the front door opens like a compass, and an overhead tilting top becomes a cocktail table for the outdoors or for easily passing food when eating outdoors.

Entering, an L-shaped galley arranged on the port broadside with a large countertop, equipped with induction hobs and an oven, allows room for those who want to indulge in more sophisticated dishes.

Opposite on the starboard broadside,a large column refrigerator/frizer with a very large capacity allows for the storage of many foods and beverages for long cruises. In the lower cabinets we also find a dishwashers and a wine cooler.

A really interesting peculiarity of this GREENLINE 58 FLY is a central opening positioned on the dunnage, just in front of the refrigerator; in fact, by lifting a portion of the dunnage you have access, via a ladder, to a large area where you can really stow a lot of things.

In the deck saloon we find an L-shaped sofa on the port side with a central solid wood table and another opposite sofa on the starboard side, behind it is a hideaway TV set.

In the bow, the steering console is very spacious and the side door allows easy access to the outside walkway, proving very valuable when mooring.

Visibility is excellent, the bridge has two large screens that, placed vertically, give us all the information related to our boat. GREENLINE 58 FLY is really a boat with attention to every detail and quality shines through in every part.

Going down the central stairs we find a twin-bedded cabin on our starboard side, a very generous master cabin aft and a VIP cabin forward also very spacious. Each cabin is served by its own bathroom with separate shower.

GREENLINE 58 FLY SEA TRIAL

The cool day and the little rough sea allows us to go out with the sun warming us and with an incredible desire to take a long cruise on this boat that conveys so much confidence and travel desire. Yes because on the GREENLINE 58 FLY what you feel when you leave the harbor is a great freedom, the boat goes smoothly even at low revs, the hull is stable and on the FLY we can admire all the splendor of the sea all around.

This model is powered by two Cummins 715HP engines and as soon as we get out we give a little gas, our speed is 6 knots with 600 engine revolutions and a consumption of just 4.7 l/h per engine; already at this speed we could travel in absolute relaxation and enjoy the day.

I reach the cruising speed and feel the hull getting up to plane; with 2000 rpm we are at 18 knots and the boat is in perfect trim, the sea ahead continues to invite us to a long navigation of the rest, at this speed from Genoa to Corsica would be 4 hours of pleasant crossing.

I speed up to the maximum to feel how the boat reacts and I read on the instruments 2400 engine revolutions with a speed of 25 knots which is the one indicated by the yard as max speed. The consumption is 143 l/h per engine.

The hull is not stressed by the breakers and opens the water in the bow thanks to its hydrodynamic lines that allow the boat to enter the wave smoothly.

The turns, which I make to assess the maneuverability, give me the feeling of control and stability, without much effort I take the boat to the limit of its turn and, although I make more than one quick turn, the hull allows me to always have the boat under control.

The GREENLINE 58 FLY with its 18.2 meters in length and an unladen displacement of 30 tn, responds to the commands with immediacy and promptness, almost not noticing its volumes that are really big.

A boat that can give a lot of satisfaction in every respect, comfortable, spacious, easy to steer and very silent.

We return to the port of Genoa and with a couple of maneuvers we are moored, I reluctantly get off this boat, a week’s vacation would have been great on this GREENLINE 58 FLY.
