GUIDI AND THE “BEAUTY” OF BOATING

Leggi l’articolo in italiano

How to put art and industry together? Which can be the link between boat accessories and an artist’s work? Quoting Dostoevskij, we could say that “Only beauty will save us”. Guidi Group (Novara, Italy), one of the most important realities in the international field of boat accessories, seems to think so. In fact, it has been pursuing an interesting path of modern patronage and promotion of “beauty” for years.

In the last few years, Gudi has stunned his visitors at the main boat shows all around the world with its original and artistic stands. This time, the destination reached is Portofino, with its double identity of exclusive and marine village. There, on the Pitosforo restaurant’s terrace, a historic rendezvous point of fashion, business and show figures overlooking the pier where small boats and maxi yachts from all around the world are moored, the company has decided to place Surfin’bird, an artwork of the Guidi’s collection (in the photo above, next to Bruno Guidi).

Guidi for Art - Portofino 2

It is a sculpture by Marco Lodola, a light art installation representing a motorboat and made of perspex, leds and adhesive films. The work, higly suggestive, wants to symbolize the future and it reaches its highest visual impact at night, when it is illuminated. The work will be exposed on the terrace until next July 18th and visible from the village’s dock.
