ICE Cup 2024 doubles up, marking the fifth edition of the most anticipated regatta of the year.

In the heart of Liguria, amidst the crystal-clear waters of the Gulf of Tigullio,

the curtain is about to rise on the first event of the ICE Cup, which will take place initially on April 27th and 28th, 2024, in Chiavari, and then on May 4th and 5th in Portofino. Marina di Chiavari, Calata Ovest, will set the stage for this event, which goes beyond sailing competition, transforming these two days into a true spectacle of beauty, history, and adventure

The ICE Cup 2024 becomes a regatta within the regatta, featuring the concurrent VELA Cup competition, which returns to its roots, inaugurating the season in the territory that has shaped the history of yachting and sailing—the Gulf of Tigullio, one of the gems of the Ligurian Riviera.

However, the ICE Cup remains the true highlight of this weekend: a beacon in the Mediterranean that attracts the most magnificent boats from every corner of the sea, creating an atmosphere of unparalleled excitement and competition. This regatta, taking place at the end of April, is not just a race but an event that celebrates the excellence of sailing, the daring of crews, and the beauty of boats.

The race, which does not exceed three or four hours of navigation along a coastal route, sees the participation of boats divided into the “Cruising Boat” and “Sport Boat” categories. But this year, there is a new addition: a special prize called the “Classic Boat” will be awarded to boats with more than 25 years of history. Furthermore, the absolute winner in corrected time, the “Leg winner,” will be determined among all participants. Special awards, such as the one for the most elegant boat (the Elegant Boat), and surprise draws for all participants, will also be part of the event.

The ICE Cup 2024 is more than just a regatta; it is an experience that blends sports, culture, and tradition in a dreamlike setting. Visitors will also have the opportunity to explore historic cities like Rapallo and Chiavari, which offer not only natural beauty but also a cultural and architectural heritage of immeasurable value. In Rapallo, the seaside promenade with its restaurants and cafes leads to the Castle, a sixteenth-century fortress that bears witness to the region’s rich history. Meanwhile, in Chiavari, the narrow streets of the historic center tell ancient stories under arcades and vaults, providing a charming stroll among shops, cafes, and trattorias.

ICE Cup doubles  up

Starting this year, the ICE Cup expands its reach and on Saturday, May 4, and Sunday, May 5, during the spring regattas in Portofino, there will be another round of trials, providing us with the opportunity to admire these incredible boats once again, in a dreamlike setting.

With the Gulf of Tigullio as a backdrop, this event promises unforgettable emotions for all sailing enthusiasts and sea lovers.
