Magazzù chooses Flexiteek for its Maxi-Ribs

“Our green spirit led us to choose Flexiteek instead of traditional teak, and we are convinced we made the right choice”. Claudio Magazzù says these words at the Cannes Yachting Festival as he proudly looks at the models from his shipyard moored nearby. Magazzù has chosen synthetic Flexiteek to craft the gunwales and tables of both boats being world premiered at the French boat show, the 55-foot walkaround models in the dual M-16 and MX-16 versions. This is an ecological and sustainable choice, placing Magazzù among the pioneering shipyards in terms of environmental policies, which are becoming increasingly important in the boating world.

“Unfortunately, traditional teak presents several challenges on large surfaces and complex shapes, such as those of our maxi-ribs – Magazzù explains – It is a more difficult material to work with, generates more waste, and is prone to damage during the cutting process. For all these reasons, traditional teak is not an eco-friendly choice, and our awareness led us to opt for Flexiteek. It is undoubtedly a more expensive material, but it guarantees significantly higher quality”.

In addition, Magazzù continues, “Flexiteek is easy to clean, even in the most difficult situations. Recently, the four-year-old son of one of our clients decided to draw all over the surface of the boat’s table with a black marker. The owner called us for cleaning advice, and all it took was applying a cleaner to remove the drawings without leaving a trace”. Essentially, Magazzù’s choice is not only aesthetic and economic but also functional.

Produced since 2000, Flexiteek is one of the most innovative materials the boating industry has ever known. It is a synthetic teak for boat decks that is as visually appealing as traditional teak, and for over 20 years it has been exciting shipyards and boat owners alike, whether for small boats or superyachts. “We are thrilled to count such a prestigious name as Cantieri Magazzù among our clients”, comments Federico Falchieri of Flexiteek – Besides being a source of pride for us, it is yet another confirmation: the world’s best shipyards rely on Flexiteek because they appreciate its quality, durability, resilience, and practicality”.
