Present at Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, Mangusta yachts cannot go unnoticed. Beautiful and unique, these maxi open yachts by Overmarine Group show an incomparable elegance perfectly blended with their power of astonishment.
The Italian yard, which, in addition to maxi open yachts, also produce Fast Displacement and Long Range product lines, is living a moment of growth: the first Grandsport 54 (the new flagship of the fleet) and the second Oceano 42 have, in fact, just be sold. Along the quays of Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, we met Isabella Picco, Communication Manager of Overmarine: she invited us to get on one among their latest boats, Mangusta 94, specifically designed for the American market.
“Mangusta 94 was the first model of the Maxi Open range which entered the market about 2 years ago. Her external lines are the traditional ones of our yard: sleek and aggressive. The innovation consists in the introduction of some aesthetic and structural elements generally used on bigger models, able to offer a greater usability of external spaces: so, the introduction of a fore cockpit, a sunbathing platform, a larger astern bathing platform and a living sundeck. Moreover, this version, designed for the American market, is equipped with a control station on the flybridge”.
Coming aboard represent a very strong emotion: interiors and exteriors seen have no separation.
“Yes, they’re in direct communication: the new window in the salon, composed by a unique large glass, and that one of the master zone flood the boat with light and give a breath-taking view on the sea.
Do aesthetic news translate into technical innovations, too?
“Yes, they do, starting from standard 2600 HP engines which represent the same propulsion system of bigger models. Moreover, the yacht is provided with a gyroscopic stabilizer called “Zero Speed” which work both while sailing and when at anchor, improving the on-board comfort and range. In fact, now, the boat can sail at low speed, even 10 knots, with low consumption but great comfort.
Flybridge and stabilizer are two important news for Mangusta boats and they are typical of pure open yachs…
“It was an important step, essential to meet the new market’s requests. Now, we’re more versatile and the owner can use his boat like he prefers more freely.’
As already said, this boat is specifically designed for the American market…
“Like all Mangusta boats, this yacht is provided with 100% custom-made interiors. There’s a plurality of customization possibilities. In this case, the American master has desired a traditional American layout, with a bar- kitchenette on the main deck, an half-staircase to access the flybridge, three cabins and an additional inner living zone.
