Marina di Varazze: Blue Flag for the 13th consecutive year

Marina di Varazze has been awarded the Blue Flag for environmental quality and sustainable tourism for 13 years

The Marina di Varazze has made 13. In a record-breaking year for Liguria, with 32 Blue Flags,
also the prestigious marina of the Riviera di Ponente celebrates an important achievement: for the thirteenth consecutive year, it has obtained the prestigious international award assigned by the Foundation for Environmental Education ( FEE), considered an “eco-label” at world level for the certification of environmental quality in relation to sustainable tourism in sea and lake resorts.

The great effort made to make the most of the area’s tourist appeal, as well as of the recently renovated port facility as per the initial project, was particularly significant in view of the regulations that will forcibly influence the holiday choices of boaters this year too. Once again, Marina di Varazze is perfectly ready to welcome owners and visitors with all the necessary measures to comply with the anti-Covid regulations and expresses satisfaction for this important result.

Among the main aspects, assessed by an international commission, are the quality of environmental management, services, safety, water quality and commitment to environmental education and information, as well as the marina’s commitment to continuous improvement.

The path already taken with initiatives to raise public awareness of environmental issues continues, particularly with regard to in-depth studies of marine fauna, also from a scientific point of view, and the protection of the waters: all this zeal on the part of the Marina di Varazze staff in the field of eco-sustainability could only result, once again, in the awarding of the Blue Flag.

Parameters such as the degree of functionality of the sewage treatment plants and, of course, waste management, are also crucial in the assessment criteria.

The Blue Flag attests to excellence in sustainable management of the territory and facilities; it is awarded to both municipalities and recreational ports and is in addition to other awards obtained by Marina di Varazze since its opening. These include: the “Five Stars” Certification awarded by the International Marine Certification Institute, the est Marina Development Italy 2008 and Best Luxury Marina Development Italy 2010.

Located 150 km from Turin and Milan and 25 km from Genoa, Marina di Varazze covers an area of approximately 232,000 square meters, 144,000 of which are water surface, and has 800 berths for boats up to 45 meters in length.

The piers located in the eastern part of the port, both
fixed and floating, are dedicated exclusively to sailing boats, while the fixed piers in the three areas further west are for motor boats. The complex also offers prestigious flats, all facing the sea and with independent air conditioning, 900 covered and uncovered parking spaces for the entire complex, with Tesla recharging stations, restaurants, bars and shops.

Marina di Varazze associates quality with the concept of freedom of service: the owner can choose whether to take care of part of all of his boat, relying on the nautical assistance services in the port, or to leave the entire task to the Marina, certain to find his yacht perfect and ready for sailing.
