Among the brands gathered under the Navico parent company, B&G stands out for the manufacturing of marine accessories specifically destined to sailing world. Precisely in this field, the brand has recently presented a new D-Class VHF radio equipped with DSC (digital selective calling) system. It is named B&G V20. Significantly compact and suited to all types of boats, this new VHF radio is perfectly compatible with NMEA 2000 system.
The V20 is equipped with an advanced high-quality display with black-on-white letters and a high contrast range which has optimised visibility even in bright daylight.
Night-time visibility, too, has been optimised, with an inverted white-on-black night mode to reduce light emission and preserve night vision of both the helmsman and the watchman. The new V20 is very user-friendly and simple to use. A rotary channel dial facilitates quick channel selection while other functions can be selected through a keyboard equipped with large and amply spaced buttons for easy access to key functions even when gloved.
The traditional dedicated channel 16 is positioned on both the radio’s front panel and its microphone to enable instant access to the emergency channel. Furthermore, other three buttons have been implemented on the microphone to select volume and high-power output. The so-called Distress button is on the radio’s front panel and enables DSC automatic emergency calling.
” Effective communication at sea is the foundation of prudent seamanship” – said Leif Ottosson, CEO, Navico. “Our customers have come to expect all B&G products to include intuitive control, reliable operation and rugged dependability – all packed into a stylish and affordable package. Whether just heading out for a cruise or crossing oceans, the V20 gives sailors the ability to go anywhere with complete peace of mind.”
The package of the V20 includes a gimbal bracket four table-top, overhead, or bulkhead installation. Flush-mount installation is supported, too. The price of the new V20 VHF radio is € 279.00, VAT excluded.
