There mare many ways to measure the size of a mega yacht, it’s not just a matter of length (in this case, number one is still Azzam, designed by Nauta Design, with her 180-metre-overall length). In terms of gross tonnage, the winner is Dilbar. In this photo, taken by Josip Baresic, we see her moored in the Harbour of Antibes (Côte d’Azur).
She is owned by the Russian businessman Alisher Usmanov; she’s 156 metres long and she was launched in Lürssen’s yards, Holland, last December. Exterior design is by Espen Oeino, while interiors are by Winch Design.
Dilbar has a 15.917-ton gross tonnage and a 6-metre draught. Aboard, there are 1,100 km of cables. The propulsion system is diesel electric (with the biggest system never built on a private yacht, another record for Dilbar) and it allows to sail at an average speed of 22.5 knots. Crew is made up of 80 people.
If you like mega yachts, stay tuned: from next Wednesday, we’ll be at Monaco Boat Show.
Oh, we forgot…. Dilbar is also the most expensive yacht in the world: 600 million euros.
