Prince 50: new Nuova Jolly Marine flagship launched

Prince 50 by Nuova Jolly Marine: the debut of the largest boat ever built by the Italian shipyard

We had been waiting for this moment since the last boot Düsseldorf and the time has finally come: the Prince 50 has known her natural habitat, immediately suggesting what she’s made of.

First of all, she has reminded us that we should never trust appearances: extremely attractive at first sight, she can give the impression of having just a toilet and a berth below deck. Nothing could be more wrong and we’ll tell you why in the following lines.

Once we climbed on board and pushed the gas throttles down, instead, she proved to be not only beautiful, exuberant and aggressive: she is also fast, very fast. And the 54 knots reached with ease despite the full fuel and water tanks are a sentence.

In other words, the new Nuova Jolly Marine Prince 50, the largest maxi Rib ever built by the Italian shipyard, is really great. And, on the day of her launch in the Ligurian waters, she did not betray our expectations.

Double dinette, double sundeck: there’s room for everyone

The pencil of the young Italian designer Luca Macchi looks like that of a long-experienced one for how he cleverly designed the aggressive and elegant lines of what is not only a very beautiful but also a fast and spacious boat. Spaciousness is the key element of this boat, where passengers can enjoy two dinettes – one in the bow and another in the stern. When the electric folding table is raised, the latter even turns into a sundeck, which is in addition to the fixed one in the cockpit. The deck layout is therefore divided in two distinct areas connected by the large side-decks. There’s certainly enough room for everyone.

The same comfort level is offered by the three ergonomic seats positioned just opposite the large helm station (the dashboard can accommodate two displays of at least 12 inches), protected by a two-layer tempered glass windshield instead of traditional plexiglas (everyone’s talking about it these days). Above, a rigid fiberglass hard top with elegant grey or black finishes. The decking is all covered with fine solid teak; the tubulars, divided into 9 compartments, are made of Hypalon-Neoprene.

Two cabins, two entrances and airy spaces

Now, it’s time to tell you why the first impression is not important. You need to climb on board to discover that the cabin below deck is extremely comfortable, far from offering just a small toilet and a berth. The interiors, in fact, consist of a galley, equipped with sink, fridge and microwave over; a bathroom with marine toilet, washbasin, cabinets and shower; and two cabins: a VIP cabin in the stern, with twin beds, wardrobes and drawers; a master cabin in the bow, with double bed and panoramic windows.

A very important feature of the cabin is its double bow and stern entrance: when both doors and the large window on the ceiling are open, the result is a particulary airy environment where the passeger does not have the sensation of being below deck. Furthermore, the fore entrance allows passengers to move easily from bow to stern by crossing the hallway without having to go all the way around the boat.

Prince 50: Nuova Jolly flagship offers smooth handling

The Prince 50 offers smooth handling and gets up on plane with extreme ease.

Despite the considerable weight of the four outboards ( Yamaha V8 XTO Offshore 425 HP, combined with Helm Master joystick steering system), this maxi RIB does not tend to remain with the bow high, as it often happens on inflatable boats of similar size, but it always travels parallel to the water, gliding casually over the waves.

In 1.5-meter waves and strong wind, the boat proved to be extremely stable and prompt: no water spray crossed the tubulars, testifying to the excellent comfort on board. Sitting in the cockpit, then, the waves could be seen but could not be heard.

The Prince 50, the flagship model of the Nuova Jolly range, has an average range of 350 nautical miles. At 34 knots, the fuel consumption-distance ratio is great. You only have to test her to find out more.
