Perini Navi embraces the philosophy of the hybrid with a highly ambitions project: a 42-meter sloop. Named E-volution, the concept is the outcome of a co-operation with the American Reichel Pugh yacht design studio and will be the first 100% aluminium boat never built by the Viareggio-based shipyard.
The new Perini’s concept features innovative technological solutions. As suggested by the name – where “E” stands for “electric” – the boat has a hybrid propulsion system, combining both a diesel engine with an electric motor. More specifically, the electric engine has a double function: it is not only ideal for long-distance cruising at low speed and low noise level but it can also function as an electric generator perfectly combined with the main engine.
“ We’ve found an important market segment – claimed Perini Navi Sales Director Fabrizio Sgariglia giving reason for the choice of the new 42-meter E-volution sloop – in that category of owners who desire a boat of over 30 meters to cover long distances in complete independence. The E-volution project appeals to this new generation of owners seeking excellent performance, range and extraordinary comfort”.
Even the exterior design is innovative, with sleeker lines, a totally unencumbered deck and a plenty of transparent surfaces flooding interiors with the largest possible amount of natural light.
Contrary to the traditional Perini’s style, even the transom is intended to offer the best comfort both in navigation and during the stops in the anchorages. When totally open, it unveils the presence of some steps which enable passengers to reach the cockpit from a wide aft boarding platform which can be equipped with a sun pad.
In addition to a large unencumbered area positioned behind the deckhouse, Perini’s designers have created a dinner area forward of the mast. In navigation, this area can disappear under the deck while, when necessary, can be protected against the sun by a blind supported by a carbon fiber structure.
With their clear lines, the decks not only enable passengers to move free on board and enjoy all the outdoor spaces with ease, but they also reflect the efforts that Perini put in making manoeuvring simpler on a sailboat where a carbon mast and fixed rigging support a powerful sail area.
Interiors develop around a large dinette, flooded with natural light by the windows located both laterally and above the deckhouse. The master cabin is positioned in the aft section, underneath the cockpit, flanked by two guest cabins and a crew one.
An additional space is intended to serve as a multimedia room.
” This boat – stated naval architect Jim Pugh – introduces a series of innovative technical solutions which will provide owners with the perfect mix of performance and comfort. Thanks to its waterlines and a powerful yet well-balanced sail area, the yacht will offer extraordinary trim and seaworthiness”.
Meanwhile, Perini Navi CEO Lamberto Tacoli has announced the dates of the 7th edition of the Perini Navi Cup, a coastal racing for Perini Navi yachts which will take place in the waters of Porto Cervo, Sardinia, from 19-22 September 2018.
