The new Sybaris by Perini has come out of the shell and it has shown itself for the first time. Seventy metres of length, a project made by the technical office of the shipyard in Viareggio with the supervision of Philippe Briand‘s studio as regards the optimization of the sailing aera. Interiors have been designed by PH Design.
The basic numbers of Sybaris are impressive: a displacement of 927 tons, a gross tonnage of 870 tons, two Rondal carbon masts (respectively 72 and 62 metres high), a total sailing area of 3,000 square metres, totally designed by North Sails (with a mainsail of 770 square metres, a jib of 635 square metres and a reacher of 1070 square metres). Sybaris is made of aluminium and the keel has a draught of 4.54-11.74 metres. It’s the biggest Perini boat, after The Maltese Falcon.
The manoeuvring system must support some impressive loads: the reacher winch “pulls” 35 tons and it reaches 75 metres of sheet/min. The whole thing is powered by two generators which provide electricity to litium polymer batteries (136 Kw/h) with a charging time of less than an hour.
Finally, two very elegant 7-metre- Cockwells tenders (one in limousine version) and a 4.5-metre rescue tender, all stowed under the deck.
