Our survey on the Mediterranean ports and marinas continues with an analysis of the Port of Andora. Our visit dates back to last July when, during a cruise to Calvì on board our Daydreamer, we decided to stop at this extraordinary marina.
Run by Azienda Multiservizi Andora S.r.l., the Port of Andora is a municipal marina which has been received the internationally recognized Blue Flag since 1975. Located just a few steps far from the city centre, the marina is easily accessible by public transport means or by car, thanks to the A10 freeway exit.
The port offers 862 berths for sailboat and motorboats up to 20 meters in length. All boat slips are provided with water, electricity and fire fighting service.
Andora provides yachtsmen with a multitude of services, including supermarkets, shops and many other services, all available at a very good price.
When we called the marina staff by phone, they immediately booked a berth for the following night and gave us all instructions we needed to enter the port and contact the filling station of the port.
When we finally arrived, we refueled and called the marina on VHF channel 9. After just 7-8 minutes, a dinghy with two mooring attendants on board arrived and we followed it until our berth.
The two mooring attendants were very helpful and we easily docked.
Then, they showed us where the port office was. There, the office staff welcomed us very nicely. Everyone was very nice and helpful.
Quays
Both the quay and the two jetties are equipped with drinking water and electricity. The fixed mooring ropes are all well-sized and located at a right distance from the bows.
When approaching the port
Approaching and entering the port is quite simple. The entrance is large and safe. Sea bottoms are always at least 3 meters deep.
The Port of Andora is wide enough to perform all mooring manoeuvres easily, especially in the areas reversed for transiting boats.
Of course, the areas reserved for small boats offer smaller manoeuvring spaces.
Although they are not luxurious, they are very functional and clean.

Evaluation Method
From a methodological point of view, the port facility hs been scored according to its services whose quality has been, in turn, scored on a scale from 0 to 5. The final score will enable us to establish a final ranking of the marinas at the end of our survey.
In order to evaluate the price/services ratio, we’ve considered the daily rate required for a 12-metre boat as the standard value by which the total score will be divided in order to have a mathematical coefficient which will reflect the right quality/price ratio.
Both indicators will be recorded on the pages of our online pilot book, accessible from the page of the selected port through a direct link.
