It has become part of everyday language thanks to a thriller/horror movie starred by Bruce Willis and, now, everyone wants it. Because a sixth sense could be really useful, especially when sailing on the sea. The improvement of sailors’ “sensorial” skills is precisely the mission of FLIR Systems.
The US company has just announced the expansion of the already rich Raymarine Axiom Multifunction Display line with the introduction of a new product: the Axiom Pro is a control sensor equipped with a multifunction display designed for fishing enthusiasts and experienced yachtsmen.
The new device is designed to facilitate navigation and is provided with the latest technologies developed by Flir that, as we know, has been active in the military sector with cutting-edge solutions for decades.
The Axion Pro features Raymarine’s HybridTouch user experience, combining multi-touchscreen controls with an ergonomic keypad for additional confidence in rough seas.
Fishing enthusiasts can finally enjoy the latest Raymarine‘s creation, the CHIRP Real Vision 3D, which allows to identify themo climates and, above all, dense schools of fish in deep water in stunning detail thanks to a wide spectrum of sonar frequencies.
All the latest innovations developed by FLIR are now implemented in this new product.
High-performing LightHouse 3 operating system is coupled with Axiom Pro’s fast quad-core processor. This solution allows to integrate electronic functions with different displays, such as the user-friendly autopilot, the innovative FLIR night thermal view technology and the already-mentioned CHIRP sonar system. The result is a complete, efficient, versatile engineering for an intuitive and fluid navigation experience.
The Axiom Pro will be available in 9-, 12- and 16-inch display sizes, according to the different user’s needs.
The two smallest units will be available from late August while the largest one will be spread from late September. Please weight up the real advantages of your choice since price attractiveness and visibility are inversely proportional.
Even in the hottest sun, In-Plane Switching technology ensures high display performances, maximizing viewing angles and reducing blackouts when wearing polarized glasses.
“Raymarine’s combination of Axiom Pro’s RealVision 3D sonar and built-in 1kW CHIRP sonar is a game-changer,” said Grégoire Outters, Vice President and General Manager of FLIR Maritime. “Axiom Pro provides serious offshore anglers and boaters with larger display sizes, deep water CHIRP sonar performance and the flexibility of HybridTouch control for an exceptional, all-in-one navigation experience.”
Axiom Pro models with Real Vision 3D and 1kW CHIRP sonar start at € 2,645.
This is the price to pay for the sixth sense, in its electronic version, of course.
