Record-breaking edition of 63rd Genoa International Boat Show comes to an end

Today marks the last day of the 63rd Genoa International Boat Show, which is confirmed as one of the best in recent years with nearly 120,000 visitors.

A decidedly unforgettable year thanks to the extraordinary results that exceeded all expectations: +13.9 % visitors compared to 2022, 1,043 brands on display, over 1,000 boats measuring from 2 to 40 metres in length, 143 additional berths in the water thanks to the opening of the new opening spaces, 184 world premieres and as many as 3,190 sea trials carried out.

These are the numbers of a Show that continues to outdo itself year after year and that, in this edition, went beyond our own expectations,” declared Saverio Cecchi, President of the Italian Marine Industry Association and I Saloni Nautici. “I would like to thank my team, who worked hard to achieve this result, and I am proud to be at the helm of this crew. Our goal is to become the number one industry event in the world. We are working to achieve this goal, a goal that will be made possible thanks to the close cooperation between the public and private sectors, and ensuring the new Waterfront di Levante, designed by Renzo Piano, will become the finest exhibition area in the world, specifically tailored to the yachting sector. Tomorrow we will start working on organising the next edition, scheduled from 19th to 24th September 2024“.

From the very first days, although not very good from a climatic point of view, it was clear that this 63rd Genoa International Boat Show had that extra something to make it truly unique, and so it was.

The number of visitors on the docks was always important, Saturday and Sunday were at their best, and it was on Saturday the 23rd that the highest number of visitors in one day for a good 5 years was recorded.

“Walking along the quays over the course of these past few days I have heard people complimenting the new layout, the canals, the new Blue Island completely surrounded by water – said Marco Bucci, Mayor of Genoa – The yachting industry and the Genoa International Boat Show are an important business that grows every year and have an enormous economic and employment impact on our city. Next year will be the year we inaugurate the Waterfront di Levante. This brand new location, paired with an event like the Genoa Boat Show are operating in synergy and already seizing exceptional opportunities“.

The feeling of exhibitors and shipyards at the end of this show is positive, and the prospects for organizing a major event next year are already being screened, combining the inauguration of a major urban restyling of the city of Genoa, with a boat show of international scope that gathers thousands and thousands of visitors, all united by their passion for the sea.
