New Rio Yachts Daytona launched at Genoa Boat Show
We are sincere in telling you that it did not seem so spacious from renderings. Indeed, when we saw it moored at dock E along with the Sport Coupé 44 and the Paranà 38 Restyling 2020, we were literally stunned by the size of this entry-level that makes the most, if not more, of its 10.70 meters of length, as well as its 3.5 meters of beam.
The result is an open boat that makes freedom of movement on deck and habitability below deck its main strengths. Furthermore, the symmetric and clean lines make the Daytona, world premiered at the 60th Genoa Boat Show, a rational and elegant day-cruiser.
When the eye falls on the two Mercury Verado, 300HP each, then you realize that, despite being a “breaking” boat, the new model certainly does not betray the sporting spirit that has always distinguished Rio Yachts, thus preserving the grit to run fast, very fast.
Rio Yachts Daytona World Premiere: a day-cruiser that wants to run
We ask Claudio Torri, the test pilot of the well-known Lake Iseo-based shipyard, to let us climb on board because we want to see how comfortable and pampered we can feel in the cockpit that, at first glance, seems really generous. And, indeed, it is: a central sofa, two side sofas and an outdoor kitchen top surround a retractable table which transforms the cockpit into a comfortable and welcoming dinette. A black T-Top with a definitively futuristic shape ensures good protection against the sun.
According to Claudio – and we totally agree with him – another strength of the Daytona lies in the side-decks that, extremely safe and protected by some steel handrails, allow us to reach the bow deck in total comfort. Here, the sundeck is very large and we take the opportunity to test it.
The Daytona is a full-fledged walk-around, embellished by a non-slip synthetic teak decking which caresses our feet, making every single step on the deck pleasantly soft and delicate.
From the left of the cockpit, rather compact and equipped with a protective dashboard and a user-friendly button panel, you can go down the lower deck, where the Daytona gives her best in terms of space and comfort.
The master cabin, positioned in the bow and dominated by a king-size double bed, is not only wide in width and deep in height, but is also incredibly bright thanks to its long side windows.
The bathroom, on the starboard side, includes a separate shower box while, behind the entrance ladder, the VIP cabin offers two very comfortable beds. Everything is immersed in an elegant and classy context, where every detail is in the right place and the finishes are of the highest quality.
There will never be a Daytona like another: customization is extreme, so the owner can choose from a wide range of fabrics and materials for the interiors, as well a multitude of colours for the hull, from the softest to the most audacious ones. The Daytona, available in outboard version only, delivers excellent performance: she reaches 40 knots in a blink of an eye, Claudio assures. But we are looking forward to testing her at sea.
