RM 970, OCEANIC LINES

Leggi l’articolo in italiano

At first sight, the new RM 970 by Fora Marine (France) is identical to all the other Rm models built in the shipyards of La Rochelle. The Rm mark is in fact clear. It could represent a reply to all shipowners who are looking for something between RM 1070 and the latest Rm 890.

However, the new model proposes some interesting innovations. First of all, the hull. Marc Lombard has given a planning sense to the corner which goes beyond the aim of recovering inner space in the astern sections. The corner, in fact, runs along the entire length of the boat by defining a support, a sort of second hull ensuring a great stability when the boat swerves.

Made of marine plywood and epoxy resin, this new boat is inspired to Mini 6.50’s lines but with a more stable and powerful hull.

On the deck, in the front part of the deckhouse, there is a big window which lightens the impact of the superstructure while providing interiors with more light and a greater view. Singular, but we don’t know if equally successful on the aesthetic ground, the choice to provide this window with two cat ears which convert it into a sort of Batman’s mask.

The lateral portholes, too, have a narrower line than on the latest Rm models.

In the cockpit, unlike the other models, Fora Marine has installed a rudder bar. A technical choice which makes driving easier and the cockpit more comfortable.

Interiors have a fore double cabin and an astern double cabin on the left. In the middle, a square with two opposing sofas and a luch table. The only bathroom is starboard just before a technical room.

The boat will be provided with a rudder blade and a double keel or (maybe the best solution) with a deeper keel and two rudder blades.

The shipbuilder has announced a price of about 144,000 Euros, sails excluded. Maybe, the complete version will cost 170 or 180,000 Euros.
