It happened in Naples last Sunday. Harsh weather conditions caused a sailboat to break its moorings at the promenade of Caracciolo.
The impressive scene was filmed by pedestrians who later sent it to YouReporter, the video channel of Corriere della Sera.
Because of the proximity of the buoy to the cliff, everything happened very quickly. Despite the numerous rescue attempts clearly visibile in the footage, the boat – fortunately with no crew on board – inevitably crashed into rocks.
These days, the Tyrrhenian Sea is stricken by bad weather and sea storms. Yesterday, in the Strait of Bonifacio, a 55-knot mistral was registered.
