SAILBOAT STOPS BIKE RACE IN NORWAY

Right at the 5km to go marker, four riders have established a good gap when, rounding a corner, they see something unthinkable. The road leading to the bridge is closed. Slowly, the drawbridge raises and a placid sailing boat passes by underneath by forcing the competition to stop. The surprise is so great that one of the bikers risks to fall off his motorbike.

It happened yesterday during the popular Tour of Norway. We’ve received the news today from FloCycling, the popular online cycling magazine that has also sent us the interesting pictures you can in this article.

The disappointment of the audience who was following the event live was largely compensated by the re-start of the group.

And what about the sailboat? A satisfied smile on the captain’s face accompanies the yacht crossing. The event is a further demonstration of how the right-of-way is a very serious matter at sea..
