The Italian team’s experience at the Sailing World Cups of Clearwater, in Florida, can be considered rather successful: Vittorio Bissaro and Silvia Sicouri have won the bronze medal with their catamaran after a breathtaking Medal Race. Missed opportunity, on the contrary, for Giulia Conti and Francesca Clapcich, who have missed the medal bronze in the double acrobatic 49er FX.
The Italian team of the catamaran, despite some troubles during the week, have reacted well and they have finally conquered a bronze medal with an excellent performance, a result which confirm their position at the top of the category and which follows the other bronze medal won at the European Championship last year.
It’s a shame, on the contrary, about Giulia Conti and Francesca Clapcich who, after an excellent 2015 during the which they won the Italian, the European and even the World Cup of the female double acrobatic 49er FX, have get stuck in a terrible Medal Race, finished with a last position, and from the second place before the regatta, they have climbed down to the fifth one, by giving the gold medal to the Spanish Echegoyen-Betanzos, the silver medal to the Dutch Schutt-Schutt and the bronze medal to the German Jurczok-Lorenz.
In the third class in the water, the 49er, the gold medal has been won by the New Zealander Burling-Tuke for the fourth time. Not well for the Italian teams, with Jacopo Plazzi and Umberto Molineris at the 15th place, Luca and Roberto Dubbini at the 19th place, Uberto Crivelli Visconti and Gianmarco Togni at the 24th one, Stefano Cherin and Andrea Tesei at the 26th place, followed by Ruggero Tita and Pietro Zucchetti.
