It’s hard to say which was the most beautiful boat but we can tell you that Artica II was the oldest one, while Masa Yume and Blow Up were the longest and the small one respectively. 13 Sangermani boats gathered in Marina di Varazze from June 24th to 26th, in occasion of the “Sangermani Gathering” organised by Sangermani Owners’ Club in collaboration with Marina di Varazze and Sangermani Yards.

A long week-end which gathered all the lovers of this historic brand with a rich programme of events.

Active since the late 19th century, Sangermani has produced very elegant boats, with their typical yellow line on the side which ends with three decreasing dots.

The oldest ship, Artica II, dates back to 1956. For the time, a very big sample with a length of 13 metres. Commissioned by the Navy, she was designed by the English Aeromarine Studio led by the Navy engineer Lauurent Giles, the captain John H. Illingworth and the experienced sailor Angus Primrose. Immediately after her launch, she won the Torbay-Lisbon race and it took place to several regattas in the ten following years. She is characterised by a super-light construction system with aluminium structures and light mahogany planking. Mahogany was used also for the essential interiors.

Artica II

Blow Up, a sloop dating back to 1969, was born as a competitive racing boat. Planking is made of light 20-millimetre-thick- mahogany. The deck, made of a marine plywood with silver spruce beams and finished with a white slip-resistant varnish, is simple and essential. In 2006, she was restored and today it is used for vintage races and much more, Giraglia 2016 included…

Blow Up

The biggest boat is also the youngest one (1983). She’s 23 metres long. She has fast lines and a wonderful transparent mahogany hull. Interiors are made of teak and mahogany. The deck and superstructures are made of teak, too, on a douglas structure. She has been always owned by the same family.

Among the sponsors, in addition to Raymarine and De Longhi: Terme di Genova, La Stazione di Salice and Bozzano Gioielli in collaboration with Gabriella Rivalta, Madì Argento, Manganese Gioielli and Davide Maule.
