The storage cabin is a highly practical solution for protecting boats during the winter and for shipyards needing to paint hulls. Navaltecnosud Boat Stand, a company specializing in the design, production and marketing of naval yard products, has launched a line of durable and innovative storage cabins designed for winter storage in shipyards.
“Keeping boats sheltered is crucial to protect them during the cold months – explains Roberto Spadavecchia, founder of Navaltecnosud Boat Stand – Additionally, for those performing paint jobs, storage cabins are essential for shielding hulls from weather elements and maintaining a constant temperature. For this purpose, our company also provides handy anti-condensation covers”.
Storage Cabin: technical specs
The storage cabin is a metal carpentry structure covered with a tarp that extends over the arches down to the ground on both sides. Depending on the configuration selected, it can be either fixed or mobile, thanks to an integrated folding system.
The supporting framework of the Navaltecnosud storage cabin consists of tubular arches connected by pantographs or spacer bars. All arches, bars, pantographs, and tubular components forming the structure are made of steel box profiles, longitudinally welded at high frequency. These profiles are crafted from continuously hot-dip galvanized and calibrated steel strips.
The covering of the metal structure is made from a PVC tarp weighing 900 g/m² (including fastening accessories), with a total thickness of 0.55 mm. The tarp offers tensile strength of 3000 N/5 cm and tear resistance of 300 N in both horizontal and vertical directions.
Navaltecnosud projects
Navaltecnosud Boat Stand supplies storage cabins to all types of shipyards, from smaller realities to large, structured facilities. The coverings can be customized to any required dimensions, ensuring maximum adaptability for specific needs.
Among the company’s most notable projects is an 80×37-meter storage cabin delivered to Fincantieri. This structure, standing 10 meters high, will be used for the construction of a new vessel. Navaltecnosud storage cabins can reach heights of up to 18 meters and can even be equipped with internal lighting.
“The Navaltecnosud storage cabin can also be mounted on wheels to become retractable – highlights Spadavecchia – It can be compacted using a pantograph system to reduce its length by 50%. Additionally, it can be built in a telescopic version to slide along rails, making it easy to move and requiring minimal authorization from public administrations”.
The Navaltecnosud Boat Stand storage cabin comes with a 20-year warranty (12 years for the PVC covering) and is engineered to withstand wind gusts of up to 120 kilometers per hour. “Some clients have praised our product for its excellent resilience, with the PVC structure enduring winds exceeding 60 knots and successfully protecting the boats inside from adverse weather conditions”, Spadavecchia added.
