German Frers and Nautor. The Argentinian designer’s inspiration meets the design and construction capabilities of the Finnish shipyard guided by Salvatore Ferragamo. The long-time marriage should be uneventful.
Yet, as it often happens when you climb on board a newly-built Swan yacht, the sensation that something even more innovative has been conceived surprises the visitor.
Probably, the reason lies in the fact that the involvement of the owner in both interior design and building phases is always very high and results into extremely high customization standards. But always within a general framework whose lines are drafted by the shipyard. In short, if a contemporary Swan yacht is so different from a model from 20 years ago, this depends on the evolution that the shipyard has imposed to style and not on customer’s caprices.
In this case, the owner asked for a safe sturdy boat for long-range sailing and with high comfort standards. More specifically, onboard comfort is guaranteed not only by volumes – which are inevitably generous on a 30-metre boat – but, also and above all, by a series of aspects related to wood and furniture quality, space arrangement, automated solutions, a clever deck layout designed to enjoy the boat both at the anchor and in navigation, hull quality and seaworthiness.
We visited the Swan 95 at Cannes Yachting Festival, guided by her
” We sailed under any condition – Giacomuzzi told us while we were on the deck of the Swan – and onboard comfort and safety standards were always excellent. Moreover, the boat is fast, very stable and with no access limits to ports and harbours thanks to the lifting keel which allows draft to be reduced from 5.5 to 3.5 metres“.
Sturdy and rigid, this boat guarantees maximum stiffness and minimal weight thanks to the extensive use of carbon in the construction of both the hull and the deck.
The fact that this sailing yacht was designed for long-distance navigation is clearly shown by the deck and its equipment. The eight large winches – four on each side – are strategically located and support all rigging by leaving the deck totally uncluttered.
This aspect is replicated indoor, where, on the starboard side of the chart table, an additional touchscreen display collects the same information received in the cockpit. Named ETA BUS, the system allows the helmsman to take advantage of a complete boat monitoring and see, for example, how many times and how long automated pumps have turned on.
Guests can enjoy a very spacious deck and a large cockpit, equipped with comfortable loungers and two extendable tables where to enjoy delightful al fresco dinners.
In the stern, the submersible hydraulic bathing platform not only offers a real private beach blub on the water level but it is also an extraordinary surface where to launch the tender accommodated in the astern garage.
Characterized by a harmonious blend of colours and materials, interiors of the Swan 95 stand our for their excellent woodwork. All furniture, including the floors, are made of European oak wood, handmade and decorated with clear natural colours.
The saloon is, of course, huge, with a living room on the left furnished with a U-shaped sofa facing a U-shaped one on the starboard side. As behind the sofa is the helmsman station with all its equipment and navigation tools, the dinette is dominated by the retractile keel step covered with leather.
Sumptuous and large, the full-beam master cabin is positioned in the bow while other three guest cabins, all equipped with en-suite bathroom, are located beyond the saloon, in the stern section, where a large galley serves the entire environment on the left.
