The launch of Sybaris is an important event: it is in fact the biggest sailing boat never built in Italy, one of the biggest boats in the world and it is the sign of a very high competence in terms of planning and ship construction, expressed through the collaboration of naval architects and engineers of both Perini Group and Philippe Briand’s team.
Numbers are impressive: Sybaris, a kecth with an aluminium hull, is 70 metres long and it has a draught which varies from 4.5 to 11.74 metres and a tonnage of 850 tons. The sailing area is 5,800 square metres and it develops around two carbon masts (62 and 72 metres high, respectively), built in Holland with carbon stays and kevlar wheels.
Control systems, sails and rigging setting are very refined and Perini Navi has decided to create them internally, by designing a software which allows regulation from an electronic device and the constant monitoring of equipment stress.
Sybaris’ interiors have been designed by PH Design, a prestigious American interior design studio, novice in yachting. The studio has given to the spacious interiors a lot of light and luxury comfort. From materials (teak, leather, oak) to details, everything is inspired to style and elegance.
Moreover, Sybaris marks an important step forward in terms of low consumption thanks to a system where two generators managed through a DC bus are coupled to a system of lithium polymer batteries which allow high efficiency, low emissions and the possibility to work silent mode, that is with turned-off engines, in protected marine areas.
