Ultra Marine Anchors: a masterpiece of functionality and design

If you are not yet among the thousands of satisfied customers, you must discover Ultra Marine Anchors, the anchor that will solve all your anchoring problems and allow you to sleep soundly, even on the most difficult seabeds.

Ultra Marine Anchors are a product developed by Ultra Marine Europe, a company founded 15 years ago as a natural evolution after the crisis of the nautical market in 2008.

The founder and current CEO Radek Masin, a seaman since the early 1990s, has tried out many roles related to this element over time, crowing his passion for boats and yachting with commercial success as a dealer or sub-dealer of major boat brands. As a development of his boat sales activity, he opened a brokerage branch in the Seychelles, a well-known yachting paradise, during the 2008 crisis. At the Dubai International Boats Show, he discovered the anchors and revolutionary joints of the Turkish company Boyut Makine and, motivated by the desire to introduce owners to the quality of these products, decided to become their distributor for Europe.

Today, Ultra Marine Europe offers revolutionary products in the field of anchorage accessories that not only provide a very high level of safety but also help to protect the marine ecosystem. Anchors are also certified by the American Bureau of Shipping, which has recognized that Ultra Marine’s level of hold is seven times higher than that of traditional anchors. Today the aim is to offer a complete anchor system in every single component and specific accessory. The Ultra Marine company distributes on the market products manufactured in Turkey with Swedish steel of the best quality; the anchor is a jewel that symbolizes safety, stability and strength, an item with innovative characteristics and exceptional performance.

Ultra Marine Anchors have a particular shape

The anchor is designed and manufactured using original patents and allows for a quick grip on the bottom without ever capsizing. Constructed from a combination of two different types of stainless steel – AISI 316 for the shaft, AISI 318 for the fluke – the anchor is mirror-polished for a stunning aesthetic appearance.

But the anchor hides a double secret: the fluke is made hollow and the internal volume is filled with lead, while the shaft is left hollow with an internal 318 Duplex core; the pointed nail cocked downwards guarantees an immediate grip on the bottom, while the side plates help the grip and stabilize its position even in difficult conditions. In practice, when you lower the anchor to the bottom, it always touches it in an upright position. The anchor-chain connection is facilitated by a good-sized eye that is reinforced so as not to break under twisting or great strain. An anti-snag bar between the shaft and fluke prevents the chain from snagging around the anchor, a bar that can also be used to secure a capstan.

The flat section and the oblique inclination, instead, make hauling easier. But aesthetics is not neglected in favour of functionality: the final design, achieved after years of study and tests, consists of modern lines that go perfectly with the most beautiful boats, to be shown off at the bow as a special object in its gleaming steel. Whether on rocky or sandy bottoms, Ultra Marine Anchors takes it and won’t budge even in 40 knots of mistral (personally tested last year in Sardinia with a Dufour 41 Classic). So a holiday can be truly stress-free for those who are responsible for the boat and prefer the anchorages to crowded harbours; nothing is more annoying than setting sail, perhaps when the wind strengthens, to try again to anchor in the middle of the night! If you’re used to going on long cruises and only coming into port to do the water or the galley, you’ll love the efficiency of this Ultra Marine.

The Flip Swivel & Hook, also made of 316 stainless steel with numerically controlled seamless milling cutters, also contributes to its perfect use. It always rotates correctly to retract the anchor easily into the bow fitting of the boat, solving the annoying problem that often occurs when the chain twists during hauling

Ultra Marine Anchors Europe and C., distributor for Italy, Spain and Portugal, claims that this anchor is different from competitors and challenges us to make a comparative test. A challenge that we gladly accept. We therefore postpone the report of this interesting test to the next episode.
