Portofino, June 16th. The 53-metre “Tales” motoryacht tries to leave the Portofino marina but accidentally crashes into a number of moored boats.
The pictures of the video below clearly show the disproportion between the huge yacht and the tight room for maneuver. The accident involved about 20 boats but, fortunately, no one was injured.
Some press releases talk about an engine malfunction even though, in our opinion, that was not the right place where to steer that yacht.
Immediate was the intervention of both Port Authority and linesmen’s means that contributed to limit damages and prevent the situation from getting worse.

The yacht, built in Turkey and flying the English flag, was launched at Turquoise Yachts shipyards in 2002 and completely refitted in 2012. It is currently for sale at 15 million dollars. 53.4 metres long and with a gross displacement of 675 tons, the yacht can reach a top speed of 14 knots. At a cost of 200 thousand pounds a week, the “Tales” offers six luxurious cabins, a jacuzzi and an open-air bar.
At the time of the accident there was 8 guests and 12 crew members on board who apparently didn’t realize where they were going to since the maneuver of the captain, considering the transit of boats at the mouth of the harbour, is not certainly synonym with caution.
The video was published by Niasca Portofino.

Could afford a bow thruster and some cameras on the aft end at 200,000 pound a week they could even afford me as the Captain.
