After a long crisis where they almost disappeared, cruiser racers are finally coming back.
At Cannes Yachting Festival, we saw new X-Yachts X4, now ready for the Genoa Boat Show ( September 20-25). After Xc, Xp and Xr ranges, X-Yachts returns with this new 12-metre-boat in the world of cruise-race.
She’s an all-around boat, with a great stability; she’s powerful and with a sailing area easy to manage. In a word, the ideal boat to sail into waves comfortably.
The hull is made using vacuum infused epoxy sandwich lamination technology to ensure maximum strength and safety, a high ballast/displacement ratio (over 42%) and the minimum wet surface.
There are many options available in terms of deck equipment, keel and rig: three draughts (the standard one is 2.20 m but it can be 1.85 or 2.50 m), the rudder columns can be provided with handrail and/or plotter console, the bow can have a bow line or a carbon bowsprit (with or without anchor compartment), the cockpit table can be fixed or detachable and, finally, you can choose between alumium or carbon mast and boom.
Interiors reveal a certain “woman’s touch” and a particular attention to comfort and design: ceramic washbasins, large mirrors, a large L-shaped kitchen and the possibility of a vertical fridge. The fore cabin is extremely large, while the other two astern ones are a little smaller. The boat can be equipped with one or two bathrooms and the shipyard is launching a layout with two cabins, too. Someone may not like the guest bathroom in the middle but the door can be closed in two ways: between toilets and dinette or between washbasin and shower/wc.
