Maybe CE marking wasn’t enough for the historic company of Pavia that, spread almost all over the world, has just received one among the strictest certifications currently existing: the NMMA. The National Marine Manufacturer Association is the US association that certifies compliance with American Boats & Yacht Council standards that, in a country that loves acronyms, is more briefly known as ABYC.
You only have to read the NMMA manifesto to understand what it is: “NMMA Engineering Standards Department manages NMMA Certification, the premier product certification program for boats, yachts, boat trailers, PWC and marine oils in the United States. It’s our mission to help marine manufacturers succeed in providing safer products for the boating industry.”
In other words, NMMA is the body that guarantees safety for marine products marketed in the States and, in a country where cases last months and not years and where lawyers earn a percentage of the total compensation, this is an extraordinarily serious thing.
The news has come on the occasion of the Miami Boat Show: Zar Formenti has brilliantly passed the inspection for the fourth year running.
“My special thanks go to NMMA Inspector Steve Carrier who, over the recent years, has led us to the achievement of the quality and regulatory standards essential to deal with the strict US market” says a proud satisfied Piero Formenti: ” A special thanks goes to my son Luca who, with great commitment, has successfully accepted all the suggestions and recommendations of the Supervisor, leading Zar Formenti to be the only RIB manufacturer in Italy to get this important recognition“.
The prestigious ” NMMA Boat & Yacht” quality certification judges the compliance with the strict safety and building solidity rules of IBYC, Us Coast Guard and EPA.
This means that certification requires the physical inspection of every single model, made and traded in the USA, at least once a year. In the event that some gaps are found, the same must be corrected, otherwise the certification will not be issued.
In short, it’s a very serious certification that finally gives real guarantees to yachtsmen.
